Sir Alex Ferguson celebrates his 70th birthday today and his Manchester United will try to give him a present in the form of a victory and sole possession of first place when the Red Devils take on struggling Blackburn today.

Manchester United pulled even with Manchester City during the most recent set of Premier League matches, but can pull ahead with a victory against a Rovers side that has endured a nightmare season under manager Steve Kean.

Several Americans will be in action in today's Premier League dominated schedule, with Clint Dempsey and Fulham taking on Zak Whitbread and Norwich City, while Brad Guzan and Aston Villa look to upset Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Brad Friedel will look to keep his stellar form for Tottenham going when Spurs take on Swansea City.

  1. When I flew over to the UK, I had a layover in Amsterdam. They had a smoking section in their airport. It was literally a 5 foot by 5 foot box with a air filtration system in it. Most cramped quarters i’ve ever been in.

  2. A teenage defender playing in the Premier League! Born in Knoxville Tenn, which last I looked was in the USA. Sign him up!!!

He probably has a similar situation like Boaz Myhill who was born in Fresno, Ca. but moved to the UK when he was an infant and was capped by Wales before the US even knew about him.

Henly has only played for the Wales U-19 and has suited up for the U-21’s, but has never had a cap with the Welch Sr. Team. So I think he would be eligible for the US team. But I think Wales would jump on this lad, he was quite composed against Man U.

  3. The ref has been having an awful game. 2 handballs in the box, arshavin got elbowed in the face, and he books Vermaelen. all in the first half.

  4. Well done, Blackburn. Without Vidic and with De Gea in goal, Manure are awful in defense. Even in the 5:0 win v. Wigan, the visiting team could and probably should have scored a couple of goals. Both Citeh and Tottenham are better than this United side, but you never know.

Welbeck, Chicha, Carick, etc. all mediocre players.

Happy 70th to SAF from B’burn Rovers.

He should have retired by now!

  6. Rebecca Lowe called SAF’s tactics in the pre-match interview and he was so surprised that she got it right. It is an interesting tactical choice. Frankly, I didn’t expect it and thought she was wrong when she suggested it. She got it perfectly right though.

  7. After a Nani foul McMan says, “i think he was just frustrated with that bad haircut he received.” On another note, Henley ran step for step with Nani early on.

  8. The only saving grace of my 6am flight with a layover is the bar in the Atlanta airport showing this match. Who cares that I have to sit in the smoking section to watch.

  9. Ives, what is the situation with Adam Henley(Blackburn)? The announcers said he was born in Knoxville, TN, but he has played for the Welsh under 19 and 21 teams.
