The United States Under-17 national team takes to the field at the Nike International Friendlies in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., again, looking to build off its first performance of the tournament with a matchup against Turkey (5 p.m., Fox Soccer Channel).

The United States played France to a 2-2 draw in its first game on Wednesday, getting a highlight-reel strike from DeAndre Robinson before getting a last-gasp equalizer from Wesley Wade. Turkey, meanwhile, fell to Brazil in its first game by a 1-0 scoreline and will be looking for a better result the second time around.

If you will be watching the match, please feel free to share any thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below. Enjoy the action.

  1. Oh but the one real difference was the attack. When they got the ball they were dangerous. I’ll say that is a huge difference between these kids and the USMNT. CONFIDENCE.

  2. Kind of surprised with all the positive comments here. I thought the Americans looked pretty awful in the Turkey game. The defense was getting beat easily in 1v1 situations and weren’t able to clear the ball well. They let a 10 man side score in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half. They gave away a ton of passes in the midfield. They looked like an exact replica of everything wrong with the USMNT: inept on the ball, impatient, weak physically. The only touch of class was the beautiful assist to Flores on the goal. That took patience, skill and awareness.

  3. Flores played well and definitely created the chances for the us team. He did give the ball away in the middle of the field a number of times, but using the same moves that created some goal scoring opportunties. The passes through the back were not crisp and at tiimes they were telegraphed, putting the outside defenders and holding midfield in bad positions. I thought the forward #13, bain?, from the surf, had some great touch and moves… Pretty fast too. I would like to see those moves create some chances on goal, he kept using them to hold. Maybe he is a finisher, but we didn’t see it tonight.

  4. US Soccer has a YouTube channel to which they post highlights from games in a pretty timely manner, well worth a subscription.
