Citing "personal reasons,"  FC Dallas has temporarily lost Jackson Gonçalves, as the club loaned the 23-year-old back to Cruzeiro in his native land of Brazil.

Though the midfielder proved to be a large factor last season for FC Dallas, coach Schellas Hyndman believes the situation can be "mutually beneficial."

Hyndman went on to say that Jackson would be playing with "a very good team in an excellent league."

Jackson featured heavily for the Hoops last season, making 22 starts and 28 appearances and grabbing eight goals and three assists in all competitions along the way.  Those numbers having gone up from just nine starts and 12 appearances in the 2010 campaign.

Here are some other stories from around the league to keep your Thursday rolling along:

 SINOVIC INKS NEW SKC CONTRACT

Sporting Kansas City fan-favorite Seth Sinovic will be plying his trade around Livestrong Sporting Park for a few more years to come, as the Kansas City, MO native inked a fresh contract with the team.

Sinovic had been selected by Montreal in this year's Expansion Draft but, in a trade that saw Davy Arnaud landing with the Impact, was re-acquired by SKC.

The 24-year-old defender was initially drafted by the New England Revolution in 2010 before being traded to Kansas City, where he has started and played in 20 matches.

"I am really excited about my future with this club," said Sinovic on the deal. "I'm happy that Sporting Kansas City has committed to keeping me around for years to come and I’m eager to start the upcoming season."

PHILLY'S PAUNOVIC CALLS IT QUITS

Veljko Paunović's brief stint in MLS will not be getting any longer, as the Serbian attacker has decided to retire from play at 34 years old.

The news comes on the back of the decision by the Union to decline contract options for Levi Houapeu, Morgan Langley, Ryan Richter and Joe Tait.

Coach Peter Nowak had glowing words for the Serbian, saying that he had made Philadelphia "a better club" and he will be missed by the Union faithful, calling him a "top professional."

The former Atletico Madrid and Hannover man registered three goals and three assists in his 16 starts for the Union.  Paunović has cited "family reasons" as the cause of his retirement, which, incidentally, is the same reason for his initial retirement in 2008.

Paunović signed with the Union in June 2011.

SOUNDERS ADD T&T U-20 FORWARD

The Seattle Sounders have gone to the Caribbean to boost their attacking corps.

Seattle signed Trinidad and Tobago Under-20 forward Cordell Cato, a player who can feature up top or on the wings for the Sounders.

Cato's signing is not completely out of the blue, as he trained with the Sounders over the summer. He most recently played for Defence Force FC in Port of Spain.

Think Santos can make an impact at DC United?  How crucial is securing Sinovic for FC Dallas?  How much will the Union miss Paunović?

  1. It was a really stupid move by the Revs front office.. not quite as bad as trading Larentowicz and Wells for Gibbs and Burpo though.

  2. Let me tell you losing Jackson and Chavez are two big losses. FC Dallas was known for there speed and now they just lost that. Big blow. I’m pretty upset we sold Chavez when we should have kept him. I was under the impression that Jackson would play RW full time and now his gone. Wow

  3. You know whats worse? He was released to sign Otto Loewy. Signed the same day Seth was released. Otto has since been released. And then RSL passed on him.

  4. If only Sinovic was traded by the Revs that would have been some unprecedented foresight….

In actuality I’m fairly certain he was straight up cut and Revs didn’t get anything for him.

  5. Don’t know that Sinovic will be crucial to Dallas, but for SKC he’s pretty clearly the best option at LB. Not taking anything from Roger Espinoza or Michael Harrington (who can both play LB), but locking down Sinovic was exactly what was needed.

Now if only SKC can grab a killer LM/LW as a DP. Convey isn’t enough.

  6. Now that FCD has gutted the right wing position, it’s time for a DP signing to refill it… Oh wait the C doesn’t spend money like that.
