Salgado, Gil among 36 players called in to U.S. Under-20 training camp

Vancouver Whitecaps striker Omar Salgado and Real Salt Lake midfielder Luis Gil are among the 36 players called in by head coach Tab Ramos to the U.S. Under-20 national team camp in Fort Lauderdale this week.

Molde fullback Sean Cunningham, Liverpool signee Villyan Bijev, Nuremberg midfielder Tyrone McCargo and SC Freiburg midfielder Caleb Stanko were also among the pros called into the week-long camp in Florida. Recent Los Angeles Galaxy signing Jose Villarreal is also in the group.

  1. Another answer to your question is that he is training with the Olympic qualifying team. He can’t be in two places at once.

  2. Nice to see Yedlin here. Solid year for Akron and could potentially become Seattle’s first HGP. Can’t wait to see how he develops.

  3. As a Railhawk fan I can tell you that Rennie likes to switch up his lineups and will use every player on his bench. He also loves to play younger players so I would expect Salgado to get a good run of playing time.

  4. Just because the rules are different doesn’t mean the players are worse… Yes the professional environment is better than the college one, but the players deserve chances. Have you seen them play? Do you know that they aren’t as good as some of our newly signed professional youngsters?

Uhmm since when is not even a semi pro sheltered environment where they play 80 minutes, unlimited subs, timeouts and 4 months of playing in a year(if that) BETTER than a professional type environment under the tutelage of a professional staff and 1st team…only NAIVE AMERICANS think like you Oranje…
