The U.S. men's national team's rumored friendly against Brazil has been confirmed, and FedExField will be the site for its location.

In preparation for World Cup qualifying, the United States will host Brazil on May 30 at the home of the Washington Redskins in Landover, Md. The game, which is scheduled for an 8pm kickoff time, will mark the first time the U.S. team will play at FedExField. It will be televised on ESPN2, ESPN3 and Univision.

The stadium may be new to the U.S. team but it is no stranger to international soccer, having hosted two highly-attended matches in the past. FedExField was home to a Manchester United-Barcelona friendly last year and also held a Real Madrid exhibition with D.C. United in 2009.

The match against Brazil is the second confirmed friendly in a week for the United States, with a game against Canada at BMO Field in Toronto on June 3 having been made official. Another friendly with Scotland is rumored.

What do you think of FedExField being chosen as the location for the USA-Brazil friendly? Expecting a large turnout? Plan on attending?

  1. Only problem really is Guatemala, as much as I would LOVE to see them play in LA they’ll stay away from Cali & maybe to an extent Houston even Dallas or all of TX if you will

Jamaica only is a slight problem in NY & FL

Always DC, Chicago & NY are probables. Kind of want to see them play in the Pacific NW. I KNOW, I KNOW Turf but still you have to admit a nice 20K+ crowd at Jeld-Wen Field of US fans vs very little if any Jamaican or Guatemalan fans would be great for them & actually create home field advantage, hell can you imagine Century-Link Field in Seattle with a Rocking 40K+?

They go wild up in the Pacific Northwest! But don’t be surprised if one of the new MLS Stadiums are used. PPL, Livestrong Sporting Park or even the new BBVA Compass Bank of the
Houston Dynamo could easily be used.

Only reason I want to see Guatemala in LA is because by then the US should have qualification locked in to the Hexagonal, and despite what might be a 50/50 split at best or maybe we get surprised and there’s a slight advantage for our boys but the point is it can help some of the more inexperienced
young guys to play against a tough CONCACAF squad to help them get ready for the tougher Hexagonal in a somewhat hostile environment but in a safe & controlled one.

Guatemala might be battling Jamaica for that 2nd spot so it would be a great match up for a team that will most definitely be fighting for something and play a meaning full game vs our youngersters!

Oh well wishful thinking, not mention that I lived in Guatemala and wouldn’t mind seeing them against our boys!

  2. Don’t forget the DCU v Chelsea match at FedEx in 2005 when Boswell scored the go ahead goal… I remember celebrating for a few minutes and then thinking, “I really should take a picture of the scoreboard before……. whoops, too late.”

  3. I agree, when will they release the dates and places for the crucial WCQ games? They need to find places where there is a huge majority fan base for our national pride, the US of A. Coming from the west coast of Florida, I hope Tampa will be such venue. We had Equador playing us and we drew 30,000 fans, MOSTLY Sam’s Army fans and good ol’ regular U.S soccer fans.

  4. Yeah but they have to release the players about 4-5 days before so I’m guessing we’ll see guys like Shea from Dallas and Donovan plus Buddle be available also LA vs Houston is earliest game on Saturday around 2pm so both of LAs players plus Cameron should be there…

I think SKC plays that Sunday from what I just read to check how available MLS players might be, but a quick flight to DC the next morning or even that same evening after the game wouldn’t be too hard….Game should end around 7…I think 9 or 10pm late flight would let KC players get there with enough time to rest and join the team the next day mid day…

  5. I have a feeling you guys will get a Qualifier.

Houston is the one that needs one, they NEVER get any games lol unless it’s a friendly vs Mexico….

They got lucky the Gold Cup Semifinals were all in the same stadium in a double header…

But before last summer, nothing in 2010, 2009 until you go back to a USvMexico friendly in Feb of 08….ended 2-2 Jozy’s 1st start and 2nd ever game with the Senior Nats, scored his 1st goal if I’m not mistaken

You guys did get the Poland game in October of 2010?

  6. +1 Everything Mason said PLUS RFK is our home and has a lot more spirit, and a much longer (better) history for the USMNT.

  7. I guess getting a game in Chicago ever again is a pipe dream. Surprising since the USSF is based here. They must like to get free trips.

  8. Because getting to FedEx on a Wednesday night for an 8PM kickoff is a giant PITA. It also means that, by going, you enrich Dan “The Hatchet Man” Snyder.

  9. WHY? RFK is a dump of epic proportions. Hell, I went to RFK to watch DCU play in eighth grade (spring 2004) and it was a shitheap then. At least FedEx isn’t falling apart.

  10. actually, if it were Memorial Day weekend then a lot of people on the east coast wouldn’t be able to make it, so a wednesday night game is probably for the best…
