Eastern Conference rivals New York and New England face off today at Red Bull Arena in a match-up of teams trying to break out of recent slumps (3:30pm, NBC Sports).

The Red Bulls come in off an embarrassing 4-1 loss to D.C. United while New England comes in off a bye week after dropping their own 2-1 decision to D.C. United two weeks ago.

The Red Bulls (3-3-1) come into the match seriously short-handed, with three of four regular starters on the back-line hurt. Joel Lindpere is back in the lineup for New York, while the forward tandem of Thierry Henry and Kenny Cooper leads the attack.

For New England (2-4), the lineup is a solid one with the forward tandem of Saer Sene and Jose Moreno looking to take advantage of New York's patch-work defense.

  1. NY is a bottom 5 team w/o Henry. He is the entire team.

Sene is a beast outside the box, not so much inside the box. Benny is a bum.

  2. I am not joking when I say that I am more skilled than than Victor Palsson. Sure he’s got professional level fitness, but I will hit a better ball 90 out of 100 times. This guy is missing passes by 20 yards. I mean come on he just tried to hit a cross and it hit the 5th row behind the net.

  3. I saw that replay and I honestly just disagree with Martino’s take. They stopped the replay at an awkward point and I never saw it actually strike the bicep far below the shoulder. I’ll have to look at it again after the game.

  4. It hit his bicep. Commentators even went back and slow-mo’d it to show. It goes off his bicep which is extended forward.

    And no, Chicago Fire.

  5. Lee Ngyuyen looks like an above-average MLS winger. Vancouver cutting him for ‘soccer reasons’ makes me think of the NBA nixing the Chris Paul trade for ‘basketball reasons.’

  6. That’s a pretty clear handball that should have been a penalty. Arm is extended and the player knocks the ball into his path with his arm.

Referee looking right at it. This guy is just not getting the decisions correct.
