SBI MLS Team of the Week: Sporting Kansas City

After winning the matchup of the top two teams in the league, Sporting Kansas City has deservedly seized control of the early pole position in the MLS Eastern Conference and in the race for the Supporters' Shield.

Applying their trademark high pressure and getting a timely goal off a set piece, Sporting KC stifled Real Salt Lake's attack and improved to 6-0-0 on the season with a 1-0 victory Saturday, earning SBI's MLS Team of the Week honors.

SKC's dominance goes beyond their perfect record. Until a Nat Borchers header in second-half stoppage time, the club had gone a staggering 335 minutes without yielding a shot on goal. As a result, goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen has only had to make eight saves while recording a league-best five clean sheets.

Sporting KC edged out the likes of the Seattle Sounders, who were short-handed but still managed to shut out Colorado; the Los Angeles Galaxy, who got major contributions from their stars and came from behind for a must-have result against Portland; and Chivas USA, who remained perfect on the road through three matches with their win in Toronto.

What did you think of Sporting KC's victory? Did you think another team had a better Week 6?
