Tim Howard and Everton's quest for silverware can move one step closer to bearing fruit today as the Toffees take on arch-rival Liverpool today in a highly-anticipated FA Cup semifinal showdown at Wembley Stadium (7:30 am, Fox Soccer Channel).

The Toffees have enjoyed an outstanding run of form in Premier League play, and will look to make their second FA Cup Final appearance in four years with a win against a Liverpool side that has endured a disappointing season in league play.

If the morning FA Cup edition of the Merseyside Derby is too early in the morning for you, there is plenty more soccer to choose from today. In Germany, first-place side and defending champion Borussia Dortmund will look to keep the momentum going from their impressive win against Bayern Munich by beating Schalke 04 in Gelsenkirchen, while Jozy Altidore and AZ Alkmaar take on PSV Eindhoven in a key Dutch League clash between title contenders.

In Spain, Real Madrid take on Sporting Gijon while Barcelona face Levante in the final matches before their crucial Clasico showdown at Camp Nou.

  1. Jozy’s 14th league goal of the season. It’s amazing. He’s scored like 5-6 goals in just the past 2months. He’s on FIRE.

Maybe next season he can score 20-25 goals

  2. he really does indeed. He’s Jozy’s only competition and it doesn’t even seem he’s much of that. AZ need a better GK and focus on their defense and maybe another striker or 2.

but even if they finish 2nd they go to the CL

  3. AZ goalie implodes once again. He’s too concerned about gamesmanship (CONCACAF) than playing, and it costs AZ a point.

  4. Understood. All I’m saying is that the defending in the Eredivisie is poor in general. So, if a team with the lead doesn’t possess/attack, it is going to concede.

Also, time for a new pair of gloves for Alvarado.

  5. Hudson has used that metaphor before, which leads me to a question:

Aren’t all wet dreams of “orgasmic proportions”?

  6. all the more reason to watch Boca/River. i pretty much latched onto bundesliga a few years back simply cause i thought allen fountain was entertaining to listen to. its my style. a good announcer goes along way towards attracting marginal fans

  7. Which is kind of funny because before Jozy’s goal, it was a bit of a snooze-fest. With the way AZ’s keeper is parrying the ball and the strikes that they’re having had at the other end, this isn’t likely to finish 2-1.

  8. I always felt that the Dutch were more than willing to have less European success in exchange for having the most exciting league. Midweek might be boring, but there are a LOT more league games per year.

I’m lookin’ at you, Serie A…
