Real Salt Lake figured to have an easy time disposing of Toronto FC on Saturday night, but they had a much tougher time than expected as TFC showed signs of life and looked primed to record their first point of the season.

Then their defense reminded us just why Toronto has yet to register a point all season.

With the score tied 2-2 in second-half stoppage time, Steele played the role of hero for RSL when he latched onto a Kyle Beckerman pass and slotted a shot past Milos Kocic to give Real Salt Lake a 3-2 victory at Rio Tinto Stadium.

The loss dropped TFC to 0-7, making Toronto just the second team in MLS history to start a season 0-7 (1999 Kansas City Wizards).

TFC rallied back twice, to tie the match at 1-1 and 2-2, with Eric Avila and Doneil Henry scoring the goals, but RSL squeezed out an important home win to snap a three-match winless streak.

Here are the match highlights:

What did you think of the match? Surprised RSL had as much trouble as they had? Think Aron Winter's days are over in Toronto, or do you think he deserves more time with the team?

  1. I missed the game but it’s not surprising that RSL was robbed again. Every week there are a teams with gripes. At least officiating is consistently sub par. Bad handball call against Portland this week.

  2. I thought it was pretty convenient how the MLS highlights completely ignored the two good goals by Saborio that were called back on horrible calls. They also left out the “ref you suck” chant…

  3. Remember when Toronto first joined the league & they and their fanbase were gonna show us how it’s done? They were gonn ashow us “real supporters” and “proper footy culture” and thet were gonna “eat chips and watch “football.?”

Toronto is a laugh riot. It would be great if they could go winless this year.

That’s what they get for being such windbags at the outset.

    “Proper Football Culture” indeed!

  4. I was at last night’s game and I have to say that this TFC could beat most teams in the league if they tweak the defense a bit. I was very impressed with Avila. Great game, good intensity.

  5. The Steele goal was an awesome team goal while the Avila goal was an incredible individual goal. Avila jukes Olave among other defenders.

  6. TFC may be the best 0-7 team I’ve ever seen…the talent is there. Backline problems still plague them like none other…
