Report: Toronto FC to host Liverpool

Add Canada to Liverpool's summer tour of North America.

It will be Reds vs. Reds north of the border, as Toronto FC hosts Liverpool at Rogers Centre on July 21, according to a report from the Toronto Star.

The match will be one of three that Liverpool is slated to play in North America, with a match against AS Roma at Boston's Fenway Park slated for July 25 and one against Tottenham at Baltimore's M&T Bank Stadium on July 28. The match, which according to The Star will be part of this summer's World Football Challenge, will be played during a 10-day break for Toronto FC, between home games against the Colorado Rapids and Houston Dynamo.

  1. didn’t realize that. well i guess thats MLS’s fault for moving the game to an international break. why did they do that in the first place?

  2. As a Liverpool supporter living in Toronto all I have to say is I won’t spend any time or money on this. Let all the other suckers pay $150 to watch Shelvey and Spearing but not me.

  3. There is only a “10-day break” because the Chicago Fire game was moved. Moved to a date that will conflict with WCQ. Which means TFC will have to play an MLS game, one that potentially means something to one or both teams, while they are short at least a couple of players. JDG and Dunfield have been regular CMNT call-ups. Johnson will probably be with Jamaica, and Morgan might be with CMNT as well.

  4. of all the mid-season friendlies this one is an example of how they should be scheduled.

“during a 10-day break … between home games”

is not like this one is diminishing the quality of their league play. but if part of you wants to do something go ahead a chop it off.
