The Charlotte Eagles were unsuccessful in picking up their first win of the season versus Antigua Barracuda FC last week, but they learned their lesson and made sure that was not the case in their rematch this past weekend.

Playing in their second game against the Barracudas in three days, the Eagles claimed their first win of 2012 with a 2-0 result that was watched by 800 fans at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. A sixth-minute own goal by Barracudas defender Luke Blakely set the tone, and Charlotte forward Darryl Roberts put the game out of reach with a strike in the second half.

The result, which came after Antigua had picked up a 3-2 win over Charlotte on Thursday, improves the Eages to 1-4-1 while dropping Antigua to 2-2 on the season.

Here's a look back at all the Week 4 action in USL Pro:

ORLANDO CITY SC 0, RICHMOND KICKERS 0

Orlando City SC's impeccable record is no more. A week after defeating the Richmond Kickers in their stadium, Orlando returned home and was held to a scoreless draw by Richmond on Saturday night to bring the hosts to 3-0-1 on the year. With a crowd of 7,899 watching on at the Citrus Bowl, John Rooney and the Lions were unable to pick up their fourth win of the season against a Kickers side that benefitted from two saves from goalkeeper Ronnie Pascale.

ROCHESTER RHINOS 1, DAYTON DUTCH LIONS 0

A second-half goal from JC Banks kept the Rochester Rhinos undefeated on the season, as they topped the Dayton Dutch Lions, 1-0, on Saturday in front of 853 fans at Careflight Field in Ohio. Banks scored the winner in the 67th minute, and Rhinos goalkeeper Kristian Nicht recorded a third straight cleansheet to start the season. The result improved Rochester to 3-0 on the year and dropped the Dutch Lions to 0-2-1.

WILMINGTON HAMMERHEADS 1, PITTSBURGH RIVERHOUNDS 0

If losing was not bad enough, doing so on tired legs surely is. Playing in their second game in two days, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds were defeated, 1-0, by the Wilmington Hammerheads at Legion Stadium in Wilmington, NC on Saturday. The lone goal came from Andriy Budnyy just before halftime as 4,457 fans watched on as the Hammerheads picked up their first win of the season. Searching for an equalizer, Pittsburgh was forced to play with 10 men for a halfhour after Rich Costanzo was ejected.

CHARLESTON BATTERY 1, PITTSBURGH RIVERHOUNDS 0

A day before their 1-0 loss to the WIlmington Hammerheads, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds were beaten by the Charleston Battery by the same scoreline. Nicki Paterson headed in the winner early in the game played at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, SC, and the Riverhounds were unable to respond as 3,269 spectators took in the proceedings. The win kept Charleston in second place in the standings.

What do you think of these results? Wondering how Charlotte topped Antigua two days after losing to them? Surprised Orlando did not win at home versus Richmond?

  1. Would have to have more teams with solid financial footing first to even have this be a possibility. As it stands several teams are on the verge of collapsing because the costs are too high.

  2. That’s original dude.
Anyway, I’m really excited to see what Rochester can do at home after three shutouts on the road. Also when Orlando plays Rochester, it’s gonna be nuts.
