Visiting the White House with his Los Angeles Galaxy teammates was just the beginning of David Beckham's whirlwind week.

Assuming his role as one of London's ambassadors for this summer's Olympic games, Beckham will be part of the contingent bringing the Olympic torch from Athens to London on Friday, one of the traditional ceremonies in the build-up to an Olympics.

Beckham's involvement in the milestone moment will not cost him any playing time with the Galaxy. According to the club, Beckham will return in time and be available for selection for Saturday's match against Chivas USA at the Home Depot Center, a rivalry game that has taken on more significance for the Galaxy considering their early struggles. Beckham is coming off one of his better games of the season, scoring an equalizing goal off a free kick to salvage a 1-1 draw for the Galaxy in Montreal on Saturday.

What do you think of this development? Do you think this will affect the Galaxy negatively for Saturday's match?

  1. The flights to and from Europe probably won’t affect him much but that jog from Athens to England while carrying the torch might be fatiguing 🙂

  2. some travel this guy does. he’ll probably be landing just before the game. galaxy should’ve bought a cheap jumbo jet when they contracted this guy, and kept the first 24 seats, then gutted the rest and laid down some practice turf
