Nick Rimando has come to Real Salt Lake's rescue countless times over his tenure with the club, but RSL will have to do without their steady goalkeeper Wednesday night.

Rimando suffered a shoulder injury during RSL's 2-1 victory over the New England Revolution Saturday night, and he did not travel with the club for its mid-week match against the Chicago Fire at Toyota Park. The injury is not considered to be serious, according to the Salt Lake Tribune, as Rimando, who leads MLS with 36 saves, is expected to return for RSL's big weekend match against the Seattle Sounders.

Backup goalkeeper Kyle Reynish will assume starting duties against the Fire, and 19-year-old Homegrown Player Lalo Fernandez is slated to be the No. 2 for the match.

KEANE NAMED TO IRELAND SQUAD

Robbie Keane's slow start to the MLS season has not cost him a place with the Ireland national team this summer.

As expected, the Los Angeles Galaxy forward was included on Giovanni Trapatonni's 23-man roster for Euro 2012. Ireland faces Bosnia & Herzegovina in a tune-up friendly on May 26, and while it's unclear when Keane will leave to join his countrymen, he could wind up missing the Galaxy's May 23 match against first-place San Jose.

Keane's departure means that the onus falls on the likes of Edson Buddle, Chad Barrett, Adam Cristman and Pat Noonan to spearhead the Galaxy's front line while Keane is on international duty.

Ireland is in a brutal group along with Spain, Italy and Croatia, and the group stage runs through June 18, meaning that if Ireland does not qualify for the knockout stage, Keane could miss as few as three matches, given MLS' two-week break in June.

DIKE LOANED TO LA BLUES

With the bevy of attacking players in Portland, there isn't room for everyone to get minutes. That much is true for striker Bright Dike, who was reportedly loaned to USL Pro side LA Blues for the remainder of the season.

Dike had yet to see the field in a first-team match for the Timbers this season, though he did score twice in three reserve matches. The club's acquisition of forward Mike Fucito made for an even more crowded stable of forwards, signaling the need to send Dike out on loan.

RAPIDS MAKE ROOM FOR EDU

The Colorado Rapids officially added Brazilian forward Edu to their roster after announcing his signing a little more than two weeks ago.

To make room for Edu, Colorado waived Josh Janierre and also placed Ross LeBauex on the disabled list as the club continues to augment its roster under first-year coach Oscar Pareja. Edu being eligible for selection could come in handy immediately, as Omar Cummings was forced to leave the Rapids' 2-0 victory over FC Dallas Sunday night with an ankle injury, the severity of which has not yet been disclosed. 

SANCHEZ CALLED INTO MEXICAN U-20S

FC Dallas third goalkeeper and Homegrown Player Richard Sanchez will suit up for the Mexican Under-20 national team in two tournaments in Europe later this month, the club announced.

Sanchez, who backstopped the Mexican U-17s to the World Cup title last summer, will play in the Terborg Football Tournament and the ADO Cup, both of which are taking place in the Netherlands.

Sanchez has yet to play for FCD's first team, but he was called into backup duty over the last couple of weeks when Kevin Hartman was out with back spasms and Chris Seitz took over as the club's No. 1. With Hartman fit again, Sanchez' place over the next few weeks became more flexible.
