International soccer picks up where European and Mexican club soccer left off, as pre-World Cup qualifying and pre-European championship friendlies headline a busy weekend around the world.
The U.S. men's national team returns to action for the first time since February, taking on Scotland. Mexico will take on a United Kingdom foe as well, going up against Wales at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Outside of the two CONCACAF powers, Spain takes on Serbia, Norway faces England and Ireland squares off against Bosnia & Herzegovina in three of the more intriguing friendlies on the schedule.
There is a full slate of MLS this weekend too, including a rematch of the 2011 MLS Cup final between the Houston Dynamo and reeling champion Los Angeles Galaxy, a nationally televised tussle between two of the league's best in Sporting Kansas City and the San Jose Earthquakes and a Cascadia Cup bout between the Vancouver Whitecaps and Portland Timbers.
