MLS Week 15: Match Night Commentary

After an extended break, Major League Soccer is back in full swing tonight, with seven games to be played and some history to be made.

Stade Saputo opens for business in Montreal, with the Impact unveiling their new home with a match against Seattle. The Houston Dynamo welcome FC Dallas to BBVA Compass Stadium for the first installment of the Texas Derby to be played at the new Houston Stadium.

In Philadelphia, the Union begins the post-Peter Nowak era tonight, with John Hackworth leading Philly against D.C. United tonight. In Toronto, the Paul Mariner era begins as the team looks to put the bad memories of Aron Winter's stint as head coach behind them.

Here is tonight's MLS schedule:

 7pm- Philadelphia Union vs. D.C. United

7pm- Vancouver vs. Colorado

7:30pm- Montreal vs. Seattle

7:30pm- New England Revolution vs. Columbus Crew

7:30pm- Houston Dynamo vs. FC Dallas

8:30pm- Sporting KC vs. Toronto FC

10:30pm- Chivas USA vs. Real Salt Lake

  1. Scott and Burch were horrible throughout the night.
    I certainly hope that the team doesn’t try to pin this loss on the mind-boggling poor job that Geiger did – he might have turned this match into a farce, but bad passing, positioning and defense is what lost it.

  2. Felipe was the best mid on the field. Sounders haven’t won in 5 league games and that can easily continue to 7 games without a win. Their early success 5 wins in a row was disguised with tight home victories. I can’t see them winning with Scott and Burch as their fullbacks. Sounders are a team that often stops playing when fouls calls go against, they literally stop. Sigi needs to improve certain areas or this steam will sink further.

  3. Just an absolutely horrible display of officiating by Mark Geiger. Wild inconsistency, no control. Players in danger. I try to be positive about MLS. But this is one of those instances when you just have to be frustrated with the product.

    Montreal was the better team and deserved the win.
