Must-See Promo: San Jose Goonies

Steven Lenhart started it with an innocent comment that has snowballed into something else.

After the San Jose Earthquakes came back from a two-goal deficit to beat the Los Angeles Galaxy last month, Lenhart offered one of the more memorable quotes of the season, proclaiming that "Goonies never say die" to describe the team's ability to score late and get results. The club has run away with that theme in weeks that have followed, and with the rematch between the two clubs coming this Saturday night, the Earthquakes have gotten a bit creative to promote the sold-out affair at Stanford Stadium. 1. I like that the editor of the promo missed the clock error shown during Lenhart’s goal. 76nd minute? What the heck does that mean?

  2. this is great. would have been better if they waited until after the goals in the highlights to show the score (this way is a bit anti-dramatic, but i know i’m just splitting hairs here).

  3. Relax. It’s just a light hearted promo to get the fans pumped up. You don’t need to get your panties in a wad over it. Sheesh!

  4. I love this. Their supporters group (1906 Ultra’s I think? Or Ultra Fight Club), should adopt that “Heeyyyyy you guuyyyyys” as their “Come on you Spurs.” Aren’t they a partner club with Tottenham too?
