The Montreal Impact left it until late, but Patrice Bernier converted an 89th-minute penalty kick that completed a comeback for the expansion team.

Bernier scored from the spot in the final moments of the Impact's match with the Columbus Crew, completing a rally that began with Zarek Valentin's first career goal to take a 2-1 win at Stade Saputo on Sunday.

The victory marked the first time the Impact had come back this season to grab all three points in a match and it ended the club's three-game losing streak at home.

The Crew initially took the lead thanks to a Milovan Milosevic header in the second half, but Valentin equalized in the 78th minute. That was followed up by Crew defender Chris Birchall fouling Justin Mapp inside the penalty area in the waning moments of the match, and Bernier stepped up to seal the win for Montreal.

  1. Justin Mapp felt the slightest contact, throws his legs into Birchall’s, and just folds over. That was not a foul.

  2. I wish Vancouver would trade Nanchoff so the kid can get some playing time. The number of former teamates of his that get regular playing time on MLS sides and do well is amazing. And he is a more impactful player than most of them
