FC Dallas had gone 13 matches without a win. A span of three miserable months that sucked the life out of a season that began with so much promise. There was very little reason to think Dallas would be able to go to Colorado and find that elusive victory in one of the tougher places to play in MLS, but FC Dallas found a way to end their misery, if only for one night.
Dallas overcame an Omar Cummings goal in the 50th minute to rattle off a pair of goals, including a Fabian Castillo winner in the 81st minute, to help FC Dallas post a 2-1 victory at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Saturday night.
Just a day after announcing the addition of Canadian midfielder Julian DeGuzman via trade, FC Dallas trotted out a lineup with plenty of familiar faces, including 2010 MLS MVP David Ferreira, and U.S. national team midfielder Brek Shea. But it was Colombian speedster Castillo who would make the difference on the night, setting up a Carlos Rodriguez equalizer before finishing off a goal of his own to send the Rapids to a home loss and give Dallas a ray of hope after months of disappointment.

I must say, this was badly needed! Hopefully De Guzman can help add to future goal scoring as we sit -9 on goal differential right now. Here are a couple of really odd, yet freaky, stats:
The last victory for FCD prior to last night came the day after a Friday The 13th (4/14 at home to Montréal Impact), the club went 13 matches without a win in that time, 13 weeks have elapsed, this latest victory comes the day after a Friday The 13th (7/14 away to Colorado Rapids) & the total amount of goals FCD scored from last victory through this latest win is 13 (4/14 through 7/14).
Also, the last 2 victories both involved giving up a goal within the first 20 minutes of half #2 (to trail 0-1), then score 2 unanswered goals in the latter portion of the 2nd half to win 2-1.
As an FCD fan, I’m not sure what was better. Putting an end to the winless skid, or finally seeing Castillo “get it.” He’s tormented defenses this year with his speed and flair, but had yet to consistantly find a final ball or really piece together an end product. This was MUCH better. Hopefully he keeps this up.
