Happy 4th of July from SBI

WaivingFlag

It is the Fourth of July, the day to celebrate our country's independence, as well as to enjoy a holiday.

As many of you enjoy your trips to the beach, the park and the grill, tonight will offer a good slate of MLS matches to help satisfy those of you with soccer cravings.

We here at SBI are enjoying the holiday as well, and will be taking it easy today. That said. be sure to look for coverage of tonight's MLS action, as well as other updates later in the day for those in need of some soccer news.

Have a Happy Independence Day.

  1. FIFA just gave us a 4th of July present. USA drops 8 points in the FIFA/Coca Cola World Rankings, and are now down to 36th, behind Algeria (but above Serbia). Not that these rankings matter anyway…

    Happy 4th, everyone!

Thank you Ives and staff for providing this outlet to soccer crazies in the USA! There’s more all the time eh, over the decades? Looking forward to the full slate of games today, all chores are done 🙂

@Wm. thank you for that perspective.

Cheers to all of you American soccer crazies out there on our country’s Birthday!

  3. In USMNT history on this day: 4 July 1994. The US squares off against Brazil in the Round of 16 of the 1994 World Cup, but loses 0:1. Tab Ramos stretchered off after a rough elbow from Leonardo.

And thanks to our desire to have this tournament in the US, we have the MLS, which was organized as part of the bid process.

  4. Ives, did you design that flag yourself? You’ve got a future in animation if this soccer blogging thing doesn’t work out!
