Befallen to a myriad of injuries this season, the New York Red Bulls will now have to find out how to deal without Heath Pearce.

Pearce picked up a hamstring knock in the final minutes of the Red Bulls' 1-1 draw with Toronto FC this past weekend, and he has been ruled out of the upcoming game against the New England Revolution after undergoing a scan on Monday. Just how long Pearce will be out is not yet known, but head coach Hans Backe said the team will take it day to day.

Pearce's absence comes at a bad time for the Red Bulls. Designated Player Rafa Marquez is also an injury concern heading into this Sunday's game at Gillette Stadium, and incumbent Markus Holgersson has already been listed as unavailable with ligament damage in his ankle.

Here are more notes from around the league:

ROWE OUT VS. RED BULLS WITH CONCUSSION

Kelyn Rowe will not be suiting up for the New England Revolution's home game against the New York Red Bulls on Sunday. Rowe is recovering from a concussion and has been listed as out for the Eastern Conference match at Gillette Stadium. With Rowe out, Revolution head coach Jay Heaps will have one less attacking option to use off the bench.

AGUDELO HEALING SWOLEN KNEE

Juan Agudelo is getting the playing time he has long desired, but it has come at a cost. Agudelo sat out Chivas USA's training sessions on Monday and Tuesday due to swelling in his left knee that has come, from what he says, is playing so many games. Even with the injury, Agudelo still has not been ruled out of this weekend's game with the Vancouver Whitecaps.

PAPPA TOUCHES ON HEERENVEEN RUMORS

Marco Pappa is not going anywhere. At least not yet. Pappa has been recently been linked to a move to Dutch club SC Heerenveen, but the Chicago Fire midfielder insists that is just a rumor. Pappa touched on the topic of Heerenveen being interested in acquiring him by saying that while he is looking for a way to further his career, there was nothing new on a potential move away from Toyota Park.

HERTZOG NAMED USL PRO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Currently on a season-long loan to the Wilmington Hammerheads from the New York Red Bulls, Corey Hertzog was named USL Pro Player of the Week on Tuesday. Hertzog scored a brace to help Wilmington take a 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Blues. The pair of goals have brought Hertzog's total to six in eight matches for the Hammerheads.

How will the Red Bulls fare without Pearce? Do you see the Revolution missing Rowe against the Red Bulls? Envision Agudelo playing against the Whitecaps?

  1. What is the deal with these injuries for RBNY? Part of the game, yeah, I get it, but a game — a practice — doesn’t seem to go by without another guy getting an injury that keeps him out of at least a game or two.

Also, I don’t think “befallen” is a word.

  2. MLS just sell Pappa already before he goes for free next transfer window. Sources say there is already an offer on the table, just sell him. Remember MLS 0% of 0 is 0!

    stop enslaving the damn players

  3. Very happy to hear about the success Hertzog is having. Maybe he can develop a little bit and be back with the RBs next year.
