SBI MLS Player of the Week: David Beckham

The LA Galaxy are on a roll and one of the keys to their recent run of outstanding form has been the play of David Beckham.

The English superstar was at his signature best this past week, helping the Galaxy earn four points from two matches by delivering a goal and three assists. Beckham's exploits helped the Galaxy move closer to the leading pack in the West standings, and they also helped him earn SBI MLS Player of the Week honors.

Beckham beat out a strong field of candidates that included New York Red Bulls Dax McCarty, Thierry Henry and Kenny Cooper, FC Dallas' David Ferreira and Houston's Brad Davis (to name a few).

What did you think of Beckham's performance? Which player did you consider to be the best in MLS last week?

  1. I’d go with Jackson from FC Dallas. One goal and three assists for the week, plus his run created the Portland own goal that put FCD up 1-0 en route to the 5-0 rout.

  2. And one of those games against the Chivas, now there’s some stiff competition. Davis went against DC and SKC this week. My argument stands.

Two games? What? You don’t like Sundays or do you only have 6-day weeks unlike the rest of humanity?

Dynamo games this past week: 7/15,7/18 and 7/21.

I’ll reply in the same condescending manner you did, nice try.

(SBI-Three games in seven days? Yes. Three games in the same MLS WEEK? No. The award is Team of THE Week, Not Team of A week, or Team of The Seven Days you picked out to count as a full Week. All that said, Houston’s on a good run, and were our Team of THE week.)

  4. Houston’s Brad Davis:

    1 Goal
    3 Assists
    3 games
    9 points

The true MLS player of the week.

(SBI-Only two games last week, but nice try. And yes, he was considered, but Beckham won out.)
