Sporting KC earn road win in Columbus

Sporting Kansas City capped a productive and business-like road trip on Saturday night by posting another shutout and another victory.

Just four days after beating the Philadelphia Union to book their place in the U.S. Open Cup Final, Sporting KC went to Columbus and shut down the Crew. Goals from Teal Bunbury and Jacob Peterson provided the difference in KC's 2-0 victory at Crew Stadium.

The victory moved Sporting KC into sole possession of first place in the East, three points clear of D.C. United, which takes on Houston on Sunday night.

MLS All-Star goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen made four saves to preserve the shutout on a night when Columbus just couldn't muster much of an attack.

Peterson continued his recent hot form by finishing off a beautiful pass from Peterson Joseph just six minutes into the match, and Bunbury provided an insurance goal in the 82nd minute off a pass from Kei Kamara.

Here are the match highlights:

What did you think of the match? Impressed with Sporting KC's defense? Think the Crew can contend for a playoff spot without making a major attacking addition?
