Sporting KC rally to top Impact

The Montreal Impact were thinking upset after taking a lead against Sporting Kansas City, but two penalty kicks helped change all that.

Kei Kamara and Graham Zusi converted spot kicks to spark a Sporting KC 3-1 comeback win over the Impact at Stade Saputo on Wednesday night. Jacob Peterson accounted for the other Sporting KC goal in a match that saw the Impact take the initial lead off a finish from Patrice Bernier.

That early second half goal from Bernier was not enough to down the visitors, as Sporting KC scored three unanswered to claim the three points and move into second place in the Eastern Conference standings behind only D.C. United.

  1. Montreal played better for the first 70 minutes, then gifted the win to Kansas City. Kansas City’s starters were awful in the first half. I’m happy for the win, but still worried about how the team is playing. Hopefully this win will rejuvenate the team.
