The U.S. Open Cup semifinal round takes place tonight, with four teams vying for a spot in the finals and a chance to play for the title and a berth in the CONCACAF Champions League.

In the opening Open Cup match of the night, Sporting Kansas City aims to avenge a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of the Philadelphia Union just a few weeks ago when they take the field at PPL Park. In the nightcap, the Seattle Sounders continue their quest for a fourth straight tournament title while hosting Chivas USA, a team looking for its first Open Cup crown.

There's also an MLS match on the docket, with Canadian foes Toronto FC and Vancouver Whitecaps meeting in a rematch of the Canadian championship final. TFC knocked off the Whitecaps in the two-legged tie, and tonight marks their only MLS meeting this season.

  2. Anyone else think the best thing about the us open cup is that there isnt any mls disciplinary committee involvement? (or am I mistaken?)

  3. Gorgeous interplay off a thrown in by Montero and Johnson… Johnson holds the ball up brilliantly in tight space and plays a diagonal through ball to Montero that beats 3 defenders and he marauds toward goal but lays off to Davis just into the box and he fires home 3-1 Sounders!
