An unlucky mistake by a veteran player proved costly for the Colorado Rapids.

Drew Moor committed a blunder towards the end of the first half, and that allowed for Vancouver Whitecaps rookie Darren Mattocks to fire home the winner in their 1-0 victory over the Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Wednesday.

The Jamaican forward made no mistake with that opportunity, calmly tapping it home from 12 yards out like a veteran to give Vancouver the win in the Western Conference showdown.

The result brought the third-place Whitecaps within four points of second-place Real Salt Lake in the standings in the West, while the Rapids are in fifth.
