  1. This is pretty weak schedule. Seemed like there was a lot more games in the last 3 years….

I hope in the future we stop inviting mexican teams to this. You never see non mexican people at those games!

  2. You sure you correct on the Sounders paying rent ?

Wikipedia and comment sense says you are WRONG that the Sounder pay rent.

The stadium was built for soccer ( and gridiron football )….not football with the concession to hold soccer also.

  3. CLink >>>>> Red Bull Arena.
Plus the Sounders will draw around 42k this year, so you need to add at least 2k in seats.

  4. You seem to be forgetting that spending $200+ million for a 40,000 seat stadium would also be a “drain on resources”. Sounders are just fine where they are.

  5. Even though the owner partnership of the Sounders are also part owners of the Seahawks, the Sounders still pay rent to the Seahawks for use of the stadium. To the Seahawk/Sounder owners, it’s a wash, but to the Sounders organization, it’s a drain on resources. They do not get the benefits of owning a stadium and must pay rent depending on how many seats they put up for sale (that’s why we see the upper tiers not on sale) For the Sounders it’s diminishing returns. As the crowds get bigger, so does the rent, so the profit is marginal.

Having a soccer specific stadium would greatly increase the bottom line profit for the Sounders, even with smaller crowds and with a “less than idea” location compared to the Seahawk Stadium.

  6. Toronto FC vs Liverpool?…..Damn, there better be a net mender on standby because the nets can only take so much……

  7. will be a fantastic atmosphere at centurylink, especially since chelsea supporters are very likely to be outnumbered, outchanted, and outsung. Sounders FC and their fans deserve a 40,000 seat version of red bull arena
