The Los Angeles Galaxy and Seattle Sounders face each other in a crucial Western Conference battle Sunday night, but before that they both have a Thursday night tune-up on national television.

After watching Real Salt Lake and Toronto FC open the new-look CONCACAF Champions League with mixed results, the Sounders will aim to hold serve at home against Caribbean side Caledonia AIA in their first group match of the 2012-13 tournament.

A ways down the West Coast, the defending MLS Cup champion Galaxy host La Liga title holders Real Madrid, as Jose Mourinho, Cristiano Ronaldo & Co. invade the Home Depot Center for the third meeting between the two clubs in as many years as part of the World Football Challenge. David Beckham has returned from London and is available for selection to play against his old team.

Here is the viewing schedule for the night's matches:

10 p.m. – Fox Soccer Channel – Seattle Sounders vs. Caledonia AIA

10:30 p.m. – ESPN2/ESPN3.com – Los Angeles Galaxy vs. Real Madrid

If you will be watching any of Thursday night's action, please feel free to share any thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below. Enjoy the games.

I would like 1 or 2 more from the Sounders then take out the normal starters. Maybe take Montero and Alonso out. Save them Sigi. Get to 4 and take it a hair off the gas, we got tough games ahead.

very entertaining half of football from Galaxy-Real Madrid

aside from the rookie’s early half deer-in-the-headlights play, really good stuff all the way around. once Gaul started playing and got over his awe the game was a little different

  • Rabid RBNY

I wonder if Real Madrid is going adjust there difficulty settings up one to Amatuer.

  • beachbum

once Gaul’s amateur rookie play could not be targeted on every Real Madrid attack in the first half when all the players were out there(2 goals conceded in 12 minutes, poor kid), they had to adjust it up a couple past amateur Red Bull guy. the MLS team representing New York City deserves fans that understand these things

  • Good Jeremy

wow, Madrid with Ronaldo, Benzema, and Ozil in. I had thought this was C squads.

  • Rabid RBNY

Yeah that never happens to anyone, anywhere, ever. But now RM has slowed things down with Ronaldo, Benzema and Ozil? The same Tripe would be scremed our way on this coast if RBNY was playing on the field right now.

  • beachbum

not true at all. go rewatch the first half

I would be pulling for Red Bulls vs. any team from another league even though Marquez is still on that team
