MLS- Toronto FC

Late Toronto goal evens it up against Houston for 1-1 draw

While Houston extended their 21 match home unbeaten streak, it did not go as they had hoped, as the home Dynamo side let a lead slip away in the final minutes. Toronto FC's Terry Dunfield evened up the score in the closing minutes to tie up the match at 1-1, just five minutes before the final whistle blew.

Giving up two points may prove pivotal in playoff seeding for Houston, as they remain in third place in the Eastern Conference, two points behind the New York Red Bulls at 42 points.

Houston held possession throughout the first half, opening the scoring 21 minutes in thanks to Will Bruin. On the counterattack, Oscar Boniek Garcia slipped it to a surging Bruin, who chipped it over Freddy Hall for the game's first score.

It took a while for Toronto to respond, but near the end, they did, as Darren O'Dea crossed it towards the net. Terry Dunfield dove forward inside the box, heading it past Tally Hall to even up the score. While Houston came close in the final minutes to scoring a late winner, it never came to fruition.

Both teams will return to CONCACAF Champions League action, with Houston traveling to Honduras to take on Olimpia on Thursday night. They return to MLS play next Sunday against the Chicago Fire at Toyota Park. Meanwhile, Toronto will return home for a CCL match against Santos Laguna on Tuesday night. Their next MLS match will be next Saturday night in Kansas City against Sporting KC.
