MLS Match Night: Your Running Commentary

MLS Logo

There are just four matches on the MLS schedule tonight, but three of them are battles between teams thick in the playoff race.

The Seattle Sounders will look to move past the disappointment of losing in the U.S. Open Cup Final when they travel to San Jose to take on an Earthquakes side coming off a bye week. San Jose will be looking to extend its lead atop the Western Conference with another win at Buck Shaw Stadium, where the Earthquakes have been especially tough to beat.

Sporting Kansas City will be looking to shake off the hangover from celebrating their U.S. Open Cup Final victory by beating D.C. United at LiveStrong Sporting Park. A victory would propel Sporting KC into first place in the East.

Here is tonight's MLS schedule:

7 p.m. - MLS Live/Direct Kick - Vancouver Whitecaps vs. Real Salt Lake

8:30 p.m. - MLS Live/Direct Kick - Sporting Kansas City vs. D.C. United

9 p.m. - MLS Live/Direct Kick - FC Dallas vs. Colorado Rapids

10:30 p.m. - MLS Live/Direct Kick - San Jose Earthquakes vs. Seattle Sounders

  1. I don’t know if there has been a more exciting ticket in mls or any sport this
year than the quakes…they keep bringing the surprises and the smiles…:)

  2. Well that was absolutely gutting …
thought Tiffert had moments where he looked like he could be special and moments where he looked a bit out of step (as would be expected at this point) – feel good about picking him up; always amazed at Alonzo’s motor – unrelenting; keep expecting Ochoa to play as strong as he looks – knocked off the ball so easily; impressed with Montero’s scrappiness in his limited minutes – really fought for the ball at the top of the box a minute or so before his goal
… would have been great to get a point – yet another reason to hate Lenhart

  3. Dont leave early- you’ll miss the whole reason for going! Great match- Sounders youngsters and their new MF Tiffert looked good but don’t know he’s any better than Fernandez was. Quakes put in a solid effort front to back, but our hobbit GK Busch shoulda tried to punch the ball away on their goal- it bounced on 6 ft in front of goal! Nice to win the head-head too…

  4. Dallas is finally starting to play entertaining soccer after a 1.25 year hiatus.
Also George John is a shut down defender.
He put a team of the week performance in right before what will (hopefully) be his first cap vs Mexico
