MLS- New England Revolution

Nyassi's strike proves too much as Impact take down Revolution at Gillette

No team has played more games than the Montreal Impact, and perhaps no team in the Eastern Conference has surpassed expectations more than the expansion club. Head coach Jesse Marsch and company continued their impressive summer form, as they defeated the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium, 1-0, on Sunday night.

The victory gives the Impact their first win on the road since a May 5th win over Eastern Conference leading Sporting Kansas City. After winning two in a row at home, the club has won three consecutive matches for the first time in franchise history. They now stand just three points behind DC United for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with 33 points.

Sanna Nyassi provided the fireworks on the night for the men in blue and white, as he provided the game's only goal on a beautiful run in the 61st minute. The Gambian born midfielder has enjoyed a solid summer after a rough spring. With the score, Nyassi now has scored in three of the last five matches.

The loss marks the fifth in the last six matches for New England, with just a draw against Sporting Kansas City preventing six straight in the loss column.

Here are the match highlights:

The Revolution will look to return to the win column next Saturday night, as they will travel to Chicago to take on the Fire at Toyota Park. Meanwhile, Montreal will return home to take on the Western Conference leading San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night.

What are your thoughts on Marsch and the job he has done for the expansion Impact? Will Jay Heaps be able to turn the Revolution and their season around?
