Real Madrid vs. Barcelona: Your Running Commentary

The second Clasico in as many weeks takes place at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, where Real Madrid will attempt to overturn a 3-2 deficit to bitter rival Barcelona in the second leg of the Spanish SuperCopa (4:30 p.m., ESPN3.com/ESPN Deportes).

Barcelona battled back for the opening-leg win after Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring in the second half last Thursday, getting an equalizer from Pedro a minute later that was followed by consecutive goals from Lionel Messi and Xavi.

Angel di Maria's late goal gave Madrid a crucial second away goal at Camp Nou, but the club will have to overcome the suspension of Portuguese starting left back Fabio Coentrao, who was handed a four-match ban by the Spanish federation on Wednesday.

If you will be watching the match, please feel free to share any thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below. Enjoy the action.

  1. It is definitely over and thank god for that, they play a really boring keep the ball game which I don´t fancy at all, better to wait and counter.

  2. It should be noted however that Barcelona would’ve won the Supercopa over two legs if it wasn’t for Valdes’ howler in the 1st leg, and the Ronaldo shot which he should’ve blocked in the 2nd.

Barcelona does have a defensive problem, but even when they are outplayed, they’re still really dangerous and they have to make catastrophic errors to be beaten in these situations. Plus they looked very dangerous even with 10 men and while against probably the other best team in the world.

The Era of Barcelona is definitely not over.

  3. This was an interesting game. If Barca does not possess the ball 70% of the time, they can be exposed because of their centerbacks’ lack of speed. ESPN’s commentators went on and on about this but it has been apparent for a long time. Puyol and Pique usually get the job done through positioning and ball control but I am not sure it will be enough for FCB this season.

Casillas has not looked right since his head injury. Messi hit a nice ball but Iker was late to react — unlike him.
