SBI MLS Power Rankings: Week 25

The Montreal Impact just keep on winning, and keep on climbing up the SBI MLS Power Rankings.

The expansion team pushed their winning streak to five matches thanks to their comprehensive 3-0 victory against D.C. United. Patrice Bernier continued his outstanding season, helping the Impact push closer to a possible playoff spot.

Montreal isn't the only East team risin quickly through the rankings. The Columbus Crew have won three in a row thanks to the outstanding form of newcomers Jairo Arrieta and Federico Higuain. Wins against New England and Toronto FC have set up the Crew for a crucial showdown against Montreal at Stade Saputo, where the Impact have been virtually unstoppable.

There are risers, and there are fallers like the Chicago Fire and D.C. United, who both suffered defeats last week (though D.C. United did beat D.C. at mid-week). FC Dallas saw momentum taken away after a loss.

  • A wise man once

    “D.C. United did beat D.C. at mid-week”

I suppose one could contend that they defeated themselves by playing reserves against Montreal, but that was on Saturday…
