SBI MLS Team of the Week: Columbus Crew

The Columbus Crew picked up a pair of narrow wins at home during the past week, and that has placed them right back into the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference.

The Crew are four points shy of the final playoff spot in the East after picking up big victories in their two matches at Crew Stadium last week. Columbus first defeated Toronto FC, 2-1, on Wednesday and they followed that up with a 4-3 triumph over the New England Revolution in a wild affair on Sunday, earning them SBI's MLS Team of the Week award.

Columbus took this week's honors ahead of the Los Angeles Galaxy, Seattle Sounders and Montreal Impact.

What do you think of Columbus winning SBI's MLS Team of the Week award? Agree?

  1. Eugene,

The Crew are looking good right now, but I think 7 games in 21 days are going to take a toll. We had 2 first half subs on Saturday due to injury, one of which was a hamstring injury to Mendes that was undoubtedly caused by overuse. In addition, our defense looked pretty bad. But Arrieta & Higuain have brought serious quality to the attack. Gaven and Mirosevic are thriving, as they can play more of a simple, positive game, knowing that they don’t have to force things.

  2. I think this team are going to storm up the eastern conference table. If I were DC or Montreal, I would be worried.

As a NY fan, I’m circling the home game against Columbus coming up, should be quite a show.

  3. The Revolution game was Saturday, not Sunday.

Also “wild affair” barely does justice to that game, it was pure craziness.

  4. It’s a MASSIVE CLUB. If this team keeps rolling, watch out.

Crew now have great depth at the midfield and striker positions. Once Vukovic returns at left back, the back line will improve as well.
