  1. “Bob Bradley’s influence still hangs on many of these players as we saw last night. Lose your head and resort to long balling. That was the Bob Bradley way. ”

    incoherent? come on man

and your read is off target, per usual, as Klinsmann plays who he wants and calls in who he wants, and has from the start, and it’s very different than Bradley’s choices and ideas all over the place and has been for 14 months…are those players Bradley influenced? and for those there…still?

    not incoherent…disagreement

  2. hilarious thread– Chuck E Cheese before the game!

Tyler: Don’t get mad at me, but I don’t for one second believe that you are serious. My theory is that you are a Bob Bradley fan and you are simply having a little fun parodying die-hard Jurgen Klinsmann fans. Admit it!

In my mind Klinsmann’s biggest — and most worrisome — mistake Friday night was that he did not realize by half-time that his tactics sukked big time and take corrective action, by pulling either Edu or Beckerman or both and inserting Torres and Zusi or both. Instead, he waited until the 58th minute and yanked out d-mid Beckerman d-mid, and installed d-mid Williams–an even trade that did absolutely nothing to help the lack of possession and ball movement and four minutes later at 62 minutes came the Edu foul and free kick goal by Luton Shelton–game over. That is crap coaching and count me among the guys who was thrilled to see Bob Bradley go but who is getting worried about the current state of affairs. The game Tuesday is one of the biggest ever for the USMNT and Klinsmann better pull the correct strings and right buttons to get a decisive win. The more goals the better, as the difference between 2nd place in the group and a date in the Hex and 3rd place kiss-WC2014-good bye could be decided by goal differential.

  3. I am getting fairly tired of seeing players out of the position they play with their club.

I think this is the closest we could get….

    ——Torres——Jones——–
    Johnson–Boca—Cameron—Dolo-

  4. I agree that the 3 DMids is not going to work. But you do have to realize that we aren’t deep in our player pool, in any position. GK we can go two deep without getting killed, but if you played 2nd team in any other position we have definite problems. Friday, we saw that we have to have Donovan, Bradley and Dempsey(fit). We can possibly afford to do without one but not all three.

Now JK is responsible for his decision to not play a high line, but he didn’t have a lot of options. SHEA and TORRES get killed on these boards all the time. Sacha is the one that can be argued, but everyone forgets how he used to get killed on these boards. So, in reality,I agree with the earlier poster, that these are hard times. We have to ride through them until we have our up and coming talent ready. By that I mean: Gatt, Gyau, Corona, Boyd, the young guy in MLS I always forget his name, packwood, the center back in Germany with 3 names, etc.. There is help on the way, but for now, when we have injuries like this (Bradley, Donovan, continue Holden) we will struggle mightily.

  5. What???? Claudio Reyna runs the youth system not Klinnsman and he was hired a year before Klinnsman was. By this logic that means Bob Bradley can get credit for implementing MLS academies and the Development Academy league right? Didnt think so

  6. RE the “We are not progressing line” – I think thats incorrect. The type of progress we NEED/the type promised by Klinsmann has nothing to do with on the field results 1 year later. It is all about the long term plan and changing how we develop for the future. Look at the new U13/14 team starting this fall, new youth program focus, asking tough questions of college. All those things we sat on for the last 10 years, Klinsmann is finally clamoring for change.
Losing like this in the present sucks, but just look at a team like Japan to see what our ultimate goal is.

  7. hahahah go back and watch the world cup then. You have no idea what youre talking about. I was actually glad Bob Bradley was fired as it was time for a change but we might as well have given Kreis or some guy of the street a shot. At least they would cost alot less and realize 3 dcms is not attacking soccer. Im glad youre content with what Klinnsman is doing as his “expermentation” will continue until he is finally fired but on the bright side at least the team gets to listen to some motivational speakers. Maybe he can take the team to Chuck E Cheese before the game, worked for my cousins team

  8. You know what I read when I read your posts?

Aside from inane nonsense, I read, “WAAHHHHHH BOB BRADLEY’S GONE, WAAHHHH” From day one you have openly hated Klinsmann. From DAY ONE.

You are so blinded by YOUR OWN bias that you think anyone against your personal narrative must be wrong.

Bradley’s teams could not string passes together and to even claim that is frankly ridiculous. I mean that is just outright f****** ridiculous.

  9. Lead by MLSers? These are the non-MLS starters from Jamaica’s roster.

    Miller – Sweden 1st division
    Mariappa – EPL
    Nosworthy – Championship
    Austin – Championship
    Morrison – Norway 1st division
    Shelton – Turkish 1st division
    Bryan – Vietnamese league winners

4 MLS players started that game for Jamaica and 2 of them were defensive players.

  10. If he still thinks (it’s not absolutely clear) that a Beckerman-Jones-Edu trio (the last of whom hadn’t played a game in four months!) is capable of quick, one-touch, creative passing but just didn’t execute, we are doomed.

  11. Playing style??? Are you f*cking kidding me?? What playing style, the one where we have 5 dcms on the field at the same time? You are so blind by your Kilinnsman love you fail to realize the team hasnt progresed at all. Bunker down in Italy and bunker down in Mexico and this is the playing style you want? At least Bradleys team could string some passes together. This team looks horrible, no positioning, no tactical approach and worst of all no attractive soccer. I could see if he was trying to implement some type of attacking system but he isnt. Danny Williams as a RM??????? How the f*ck can that be considered progress??

  12. I didn’t blame Bradley at all. I thought Bob was right for us at the time. He positioned the team to make big moves into a new era.

I blamed the players for not doing what they are supposed to. I’m not surprised you have trouble reading given your usual incoherent comments.

  13. it was a group led by MLSers…nine of them I believe for Jamaica who handed it to our boys.

The USMNT was NOT prepared for that game Friday, no way around that fact. Those who can’t see that have blinders on

hopefully Coach turns it around asap. It’s up to him to make the adjsutments necessary, on all levels, including intensity, movement, focus, etc.

    we’ll see

  14. wow, still blaming Bradley…you are out to lunch, the ultimate apologist.

AND it IS the coach’s responsibility to make sur eth eplayers play the way he wants them too!!! In fact, that’s why Klinnsman calls in the guys he does…becasue he believes they play how he wants to!!!!

still blaming Bradley…absolute joke. Join us here in reality buddy and realize the players and tactics Klinsmann is trying are NOT Bradley holdovers

this s. h . i . t . is all on Klinsmann, and if the team responds tomorrow, he’ll get the praises too…not Bradley. Duh

  15. Huh?

They couldn’t move it to their own team BECAUSE they weren’t moving the ball quickly. Slow the ball down and it allows Jamaica to swarm the ball and force turnovers.

    You contradicted yourself.

  16. I think its a lot more than move the ball quicker. Half the mids can’t move it to our own team

If he doesnt shake that lineup up for this game then I’m going to start screaming for his head.

We are not progressing when we can’t take it to a team like Jamaica. Seems a lot of their team is playing in MLS too. Not like were being dominated by Euro players

  17. We aren’t talking about the player pool. We are talking about a style of play.

You think your comment proves a point when it only hurts your position. Bob Bradley’s influence still hangs on many of these players as we saw last night. Lose your head and resort to long balling. That was the Bob Bradley way.

And as for the player pool–Robbie Findley. Clark. Bornstein. Those are decisions that hurt a team.

  18. Honestly, could no one in the room say “Hold on a second Mr. Klinsmann, it looks like you’ve got a dangler coming out there. Let’s take care of that before we start shooting.”

  19. He actually did that though.

He put Williams in the middle in his natural spot and he actually started the midfield passing. Jozy had to come off, he was awful. So, the only sub left was Shea who would have been a great addition if he had actually tried…

He was just walking around with the ball. I remember several different times when he lost the ball from behind because he was jogging with it.

  20. You should expect starting EPL and Bundesliga midfielders coupled with the backline to pass the ball quickly.

They reverted back to long ball and subsequently lost.

  21. His comments are interesting because one of the main critiques post match I heard was was “if you aren’t going to play a wide formation you have to play up the middle”.

Sounds like that was the plan, but it wasn’t executed.

Still, I think it’s up to the manager to make the adjustment, either by saying “you three need to figure this out” or “fine I’ll replace you with folks who will execute” or okay let’s sub and change tactics/formation.

Neither of these adjustment seemed very clear based on the subs

  22. I was reading on another web site a writer who sees the biggest mistake Klinsmann made was not so much playing three d-mids, but that Klinsmann dropped the back line so much out of fear of Jamaica’s speed, leaving a lot of open space between defenders and Beckerman for the Jamaican forwards to penetrate creating problems and also forcing not only Beckerman, but Edu and Jones to back track and make silly fouls. whereas against good teams like France and Italy the U.S. back-line was pressed up high and the whole US defense was pressing all the time.

  23. Tyler,

True he can lead a horse to water, but can’t make him drink. But it was Klinsmann who picked the horses and put them on the field.

  24. exactly what I was thinking. and not only a bit blue after the loss, but he’s got to be churning inside knowing that if he does not win Tuesday and if Guatemala wins, there will be no room for error in the final two games–must have two wins or it will be curtains.

  25. It won’t be pretty.

Beckermann is usually composed and the first to play quick with the ball, but Friday wasn’t his best game. He was all over making up for Edu’s problems and trying to hold a semblance of the midfield. He was gassed and complete ineffective by the 50th minute.

  26. He makes a very good point.

D*ck around with the ball–don’t move it around and pass quickly–and you will lose. That sounded almost like, “I can lead a horse to water, but I can’t get it to drink.”

Would not want to be in that film room.

  27. I am not a Torres fan, but I actually think he would have been effective against Jamaica. The midfielders seemed like they had time, they just lacked the quick decisions. Just like Klinsmann said, they need to take one or two touches instead of four or five. All Torres needs is a little space and he can be clinical. Jamaica will probably be sitting back more, so the opportunity could be his to pick apart the defense with his passing.
