MLS Match Day: Your Running Commentary

MLS Logo

The Houston Dynamo and D.C. United are not only both fighting just to make the Eastern Conference playoffs. Both teams have hopes of breaking into the top three in the East in order to avoid having to play in a one-game wild card play-in match. Both teams can help their chances with wins today.

Houston takes on struggling Philadelphia at PPL Park. The Union have struggled to find goals in recent weeks, but they have also been tough enough defensively to garner draws in several recent matches. For Houston, Brad Davis and Oscar Boniek Garcia are keys to their attack and the two midfielders will look to break down a tough Union back line with the help of Will Bruin.

D.C. United is at home today and will look to knock off a Chivas USA side that has faded fast in recent weeks. The Goats have been bleeding goals, but they might get a respite against a D.C. attack that has struggled since the loss of MVP Dwayne DeRosario.

Here is today's MLS schedule:

4pm- MLS Direct Kick– Philadelphia Union vs. Houston Dynamo

7pm- Galavision– D.C. United vs. Chivas USA

7:30pm- MLS Direct Kick– Vancouver Whitecaps vs. Colorado Rapids

  1. Played in 27 games and started in 12 last year for RBNY, this year played in 14 and started 12 with Chivas USA (four games remain), where are the calls for letting Agudelo go? He is benched on one of the worst MLS teams. #letagudelogochivas Lol

  2. MLS should allow me to watch the DC feed on Direct Kick rather than watch this crap Galavision broadcast, after all I paid for it. Standard definition sucks.

  3. DCU v Chivas feed anyone? I get by with not having major cable through watching on MLS Live and ESPN3, but unfortunately Galavision is one I can’t get.

  4. LOL so hard at DPing some refs lol

I thought maybe because the fall bounced off a Dynamo player that is why the 3rd goal stood.

Give McMath time….I think he’ll be good. Philly just needs to keep all their weapons healthy. Torres, Adu, Perlaza if he’s still there and get some chemistry going

  5. Great showing by Phily against a very good Houston team.
If this is an indication of what next season holds I’m a happy Philly fan.
(luck aside on that third goal–Philly was clearly offsides).

I still think we need a tall and proven target forward (Peter Crouch for DP!) and a different keeper for next season. MacMath’s “coming out to cut down the angle” and “dealing with crosses” IQ is about zero.

If Soumare can get to match fitness his size on the back line will be a great improvement as well. Okugo and Valdes are CB awesomeness, but we the back line needs some height.

Oh and MLS refs are simply terrible. Can the league DP some refs?
