MLS Match Night: Your Running Commentary

MLS

After a Friday night showdown between the top two teams in the Eastern Conference, the playoff race continues tonight with several teams fighting for their post-season lives tonight.

After four consecutive wins, Columbus has fallen off the pace, falling behind the Houston Dynamo for the final spot in the Eastern Conference playoff hunt. They will look to right the ship as they host the Philadelphia Union. Columbus will need to take advantage of any opportunity they get in the final month of the season, as they face two teams currently slated to make the playoffs, while Houston does not face a single one. The Dynamo will play host to the visiting New England Revolution, as they look to continue their undefeated season at home this season in their first year at BBVA Compass Stadium.

Meanwhile, in the Western Conference, Vancouver and FC Dallas will both be in action, as both clubs look to take hold of the fifth and final spot in the Western Conference playoff hunt. Vancouver will take on Cascadia Cup rival Seattle Sounders at home at BC Place, while FC Dallas travels to Buck Shaw Stadium to take on Supporters' Shield-leading San Jose Earthquakes. At 36 points, FC Dallas will move ahead of the Whitecaps with a win and Whitecaps' loss tonight.

  1. yeah as an FCD supporter not sure if I am happy that we got the point or really upset that we could not hold the two leads we had. SJ is impressive in how many goal scoring threats they have

  2. Yeah, definitely a questionable call on the pk, but I also found it questionable that Horst was on the field for the full 90 minutes. Apparently he did nothing that warranted a yellow card (or more likely three or four yellow cards) during that time span.

  3. Uhhh what is going on with officials in MLS? Portland getting shafted by referees right now. Owner just exploded on Twitter.. here comes a huge fine.

  4. Holgersson celebrates his goal, off a corner, by running over to Henry as if to say, “Thanks for letting me score; I know you could have scored it by yourself.”
