The international break means that most MLS teams are out of action this week, but there are still a pair of games Wednesday night, including one that will have the attention of all of the teams in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
The Columbus Crew, winners of four straight games and unbeaten in their last six, can end the night as high as third place in the East and be within a point of second-place New York. They look to continue their astonishing rise up the table with a match at the New England Revolution, who are looking to snap a 10-game winless streak. Among those 10 matches was a 4-3 thriller in Columbus less than two weeks ago, a game in which in-form DP Federico Higuain and Jairo Arrieta each scored twice to bring the Crew back from a 2-0 hole.
In the night's other game, Colorado and Portland meet for the second time in a six-day span, with the Rapids looking for revenge from Saturday night's 1-0 loss at Jeld-Wen Field. The Timbers are going for their third straight win, and if they get it, it would be their first away from home this season. Here is the viewing schedule for the night's matches:
8 p.m. – MLS Live/Direct Kick – New England Revolution vs. Columbus Crew
9 p.m. – NBC Sports Network – Colorado Rapids vs. Portland Timbers
