Playing in front of the largest crowd to ever watch a game at Livestrong Sporting Park, Sporting Kansas City looked destined to suffer a rare home loss at the hands of the Houston Dynamo, but Graham Zusi and C.J. Sapong combined to send the fans in blue home happier than they would have been if KC had lost.

Zusi floated a perfect back-post cross to a wide-open Sapong, who headed home a game-tying goal in the third minute of second-half stoppage time to help Sporting KC salvage a 1-1 draw on Friday night. Sapong's goal canceled out a first-half strike from Brad Davis in the 58th minute.

The draw helped extend Sporting KC's lead atop the Eastern Conference to four points ahead of the second-place Chicago Fire, while the Dynamo moved into a tie for third place in the East with the New York Red Bulls.

Houston goalkeeper Tally Hall enjoyed an outstanding night, keeping KC off the scoreboard with seven saves, including clutch stops on Sapong in the 33rd minute and Chance Myers in the 84th minute.

Here are the match highlights:

although just getting back into it, Sapong was the dangerous player tonight for KC, working his way all the way until his late stoppage time goal equalized. In the end he won the header on the long ball into the box that led to the goal, then repositioned back post and found space for the winner from Zusi’s deft service

    Davis’ goal was nice too

Brad Davis scores a magnificent goal(as usual) and there is not a lot of emphasis on that. Making something out of nothing and finishing off the play. The man is one of the best US players currently playing in MLS. He has everything we are lacking on the USMNT…ball control, scoring ability, vision, accurate passing, intelligent decisions on the fly…. when is this guy going to start getting the praise he deserves??
If anything of the following: Shea, Agudelo, Robbie Rogers, Zusi, Ricardo clark, or Beckerman had this man’s skill set and work ethic like they’ll be in the center of US Soccer……

“ball control, scoring ability, vision, accurate passing, intelligent decisions on the fly.”

And don’t forget time travel… Apparently the man scored a first half goal in the 58th minute. (Pretty sure there was only 1 minute of first half stoppage time, not 13+.)

LOL! first-half 58-minute… These internet “journalists” don’t care about the quality or accuracy of their writing. Worst of all, they don’t even go back and correct their posts.
