College Weekend Rewind: UConn downs Notre Dame, UNC edges Duke, and more

The UConn Huskies sent a message this weekend that they have every intention of being the top team in the stacked Big East with their win against highly-rated Notre Dame.

The SBI No. 2 Huskies rode goals from Carlos Alvarez and Flo Liu to extend their home unbeaten streak to 32 games, the seventh-longest streak in NCAA history. Dillon Powers pulled one back for the No. 5 Fighting Irish early in the second half, but the visitors were unable to draw any closer.

Defending national champions North Carolina needed overtime, and a pair of Duke red cards, to avoid the upset against their arch-rival as Jordan Gafa's overtime winner sealed the victory for the Tar Heels.

The upset of the weekend came in New Jersey, where Rutgers rode a winning goal from junior forward Kene Eze to beat No. 22 Louisville, 2-1. The Scarlet Knights were the only unranked team to beat an ranked team this weekend.
