CONCACAF Champions League preview: Sounders, Toronto FC look for wins

By JOSE M. ROMERO

The group stage of the CONCACAF Champions League is in its last days, and on Wednesday night, two MLS teams are in action.

The Seattle Sounders face Marathon of Honduras at CenturyLink Field, with Seattle having clinched the Group 4 title and a spot in the quarterfinals. The match begins at 10 p.m. ET on Fox Soccer Channel.

The Seattle game could mark the debut of goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann, the former U.S. national teamer who has been part of two World Cup teams. He signed with his hometown club in September after the Sounders traded with Toronto FC for his allocation rights.

That match is preceded by Toronto FC facing Mexican power Santos Laguna in Torreon at 8 ET. Toronto FC has an almost insurmountable challenge in defeating Santos, which it must do to have a chance at winning Group 1.

The eight CCL group winners move on to the quarterfinals, the other 16 teams are out of the competition.

The other CCL match on Wednesday is Tigres UANL of Mexico hosting Alajuelense of Costa Rica. Tigres can win Group 6 with a victory.
