No suspensions this week. Just fines.

The MLS Discplinary Committee fined Los Angeles Galaxy forward Robbie Keane and FC Dallas defender Jair Benitez each an undisclosed amount for their actions this past weekend, the league announced on Friday.

Keane was fined for his public criticism of match officials following the Galaxy’s 2-2 draw with the San Jose Earthquakes on Oct. 21. Benitez was penalized for his embellishment in the 65th minute of FC Dallas’ 3-1 loss to Seattle that same day.

What do you think of the MLS Disciplinary Committee fining Keane and Benitez? Agree with both of them being fined?

  1. Keane got in trouble because he pointed out that the ref from last week’s game doesn’t speak English. Can’t have that kind of information getting out.

    • Well, then maybe they should pick a captain who does. There are plenty of player on the LA squad who do. Couldn’t they help out. You sound almost has bad as Keane Every time Keane scores I feel bad for his mother who has to watch that embarrassing celebration. If my son did that I would smack him upside the head and tell him to learn a little about quite dignity. I am all for a celebration and having fun on the pitch but that guy needs a sit down. Just make sure you do it in English so he can understand.

    • He didn’t ‘avoid’ anything JRP. Not only did he get a fine but also got suspended for a game. The more appropriate question(s) should be how Robbie Keane only got a fine, Omar Gonzalez and Bruce Arena got absolutely nothing a mere week after Sigi Schmidt got his punishment for doing the same thing….Hmmm?
