The MLS Disciplinary Committee decided to suspend Franco one game and fine him an undisclosed amount for his reckless challenge on Philadelphia Union midfielder Brian Carroll in the second half of the Fire's 3-1 loss on Wednesday, his second game in the league. Franco received a red card for the tackle and was already set to miss this Saturday's match against the New York Red Bulls, but he will now also miss the Oct. 20 match against the New England Revolution.

A late acquisition by Chicago, Franco is now in a tough spot in terms of his standing with the team. He will not return until the season finale and that might not give him enough time to convince head coach Frank Klopas he is ready for a bigger role in the playoffs.

DAVIS IN DOUBT FOR DUEL WITH IMPACT

The Houston Dynamo have a pivotal match against the Montreal Impact looming, and midfielder Brad Davis looks a good bet to miss out on it. Davis sustained a strained left calf on Tuesday and he admitted it might be difficult for him to play at BBVA Compass Stadium on Saturday when the Impact visit. Still, the injury is not considered to be a long-term one and there is a small chance Davis could dress to play against Montreal.

MORROW AGREES TO NEW DEAL WITH EARTHQUAKES

It appears Justin Morrow will be with the San Jose Earthquakes for the foreseeable future. Morrow signed a new contract with the Earthquakes on Thursday, but terms of the deal were not disclosed. Morrow has enjoyed a strong season for first-place San Jose, going the distance in 30 of 31 league games and playing in the MLS All-Stars' 3-2 win over Chelsea this past summer.

MLS TEAMS HEADING BACK TO ORLANDO FOR PRESEASON

The MLS regular season may not be over just yet, but that is not stopping teams from already making their preseason plans for next year. For the fourth straight year, MLS teams will be making their way to Orlando for preseason preparations as well as the annual Walt Disney World Pro Soccer Classic tournament at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Six teams are reportedly set to train and partake in the Central Florida event in 2013, with D.C. United and Sporting Kansas City the first two teams identified.
