El Clasico kicks off for the 2012-2013 La Liga season, as Real Madrid takes on Barcelona at Camp Nou. This is the 166th match in league play between the two rivals. Real Madrid will be looking to make up ground on Barcelona, as the defending La Liga champions are off to a slow start this season. Sitting eight points behind Barcelona, which leads the league, Real Madrid has a great chance to continue their recent run of success against Barcelona, having won two of the last three matchups between the two historic clubs.
Barcelona's captain, Carles Puyol, is out for today's match due to a dislocated elbow he suffered in Champions League play last week. Meanwhile, for Real Madrid, Mesut Özil gets the nod over Luka Modric in midfield.
If you will be watching today's match, please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below.
Enjoy the action.
Did you really utter the term “friendly” in describing a meeting between Celtic and Rangers?!! Not in this century…
Lol ^
Dude, I 100& agree with you
Oh yeah. They played like 3 games in the league plus usually 2 or 4 other games in cups. Plus i’m sure friendlies
Nah. Now Celtic v. Rangers. That was overkill.
Which is why they’re what, 10 points behind in the league?
You’re looking for a coherent comment from someone calling himself Vicious Onion?
I’m all for rivalries with mega money clubs but how many times do these teams play each other every year in all competitions? Seems like about 20 times = OVERKILL !!!!
I’m confused Madrid came back?
Barcelona has some areas to improve, that’s for sure.
But think of the vision, imagination, close passing that ends up with a terrific curling shot from a right back youth academy player beating Casillas but coming off the bar. Six completed passes in or on the edge of the box — bing! bing! bing!
And Real — with some very great players–was trying real hard to keep them from doing it.
Hats off the Ronaldo though, for scoring while obviously injured from his mirth-inducing whiff of a bike.
Messi’s quality but he can’t touch the likes of Dempsey. I’d love to see him at Barcelona scoring left and right
Kaka should be starting over Ozil.
Barcelona es el mejor equipo en La Liga este ano. Barcelomna showed great resolve to comeback and nearly win.
barcelona is slowly going downhill, puyol is injury prone and will retire soon I’m assuming, xavi will renew his contract for max a couple of years maybe more if he dares but that will be his last renewal , alexis sanchez or villa one will leave. so almost the same thing that happened to madrid when every superstar started retiring, this madrid is young and full of talent.
uhhh yea your the millionth to say that, i said that when he scored his first goal from an assist by ronaldihno as along with millions of other people lol loser
HALA MADRID, see if Tranzalona can score in our home.
Booooooooo. A draw in a Super Clasico always kind of feels like a ripoff doesn’t it???
He IS the Lord Protectorate of Additional Time now right? Or did I read that wrong?
So how much stoppage time will Fergie give this game?
Ha ha. I’m sure you do.
Well I like him more than the others, that’s for sure.
Yay! Kaka is on. He definitely helps increase Madrid’s likability in terms of personality and character.
Gosh darn it! Auto-correct kills me. Where is the EDIT feature Ives? I know I know, I kid. Been following SBI since ’05 but that’s one feature that would greatly improve the comments section.
Does anyone get the feeling that as great a player as Ronaldo is, he’d a thousand times better (or maybe I should, even more effective) if he stopped with all the shenanigans and stayed on his feet more? He’d probably be even more loved and respected too. No way to his talent, but man his mannerisms are irksome. This coming from an American Madrid born in Madrid.
Ok so I was waaaaaay wrong. Wow. This game is great.
Where is everyone watching this ? I’m stuck in texas!!!! help
Haha Lionel Messi everyone.
Your not the first to say that. Lol
Wow. Messi. Those missed opportunities in the first half by Madrid really came to bite them in the rear. Don’t see Madrid getting Back into it.
Holy golazo batman from the best player ever.
Out of this world golazo!!!!
This Messi kid is going to be a good one.
You heard it here first.
Uh can the referee do that?
Ia that even allowed in the laws? A foul in the box by pepe on iniesta results in a free kick and not a penalty…
What the heck?!
Pepe fouls Iniesta in the box, but referee gives a free kick instead of a penalty! What in the world just happened?! The referee just blew the game wow.
Ronaldo with a beauty of a goal to put Madrid up 1-0. Barcelona is really missing Puyol.
