Riding their impressive victory against fellow Big East power Notre Dame last Saturday, the University of Connecticut Huskies have made their way to the top of the latest SBI College Soccer Top 25.
UConn edged ahead of former No. 1 Maryland, which also remained unbeaten last week with a win against College of Charleston.
UConn will have their standing as the top team in the nation tested today when they take on No. 3 Georgetown in a battle of unbeatens. The Hoyas have made dramatic late wins their trademark this season, and standout freshman forward Brandon Allen will look to work his magic again when he faces UConn's stingy defense.
The three teams in the nation that still have perfect records are all in the Top 25 this week, with Cornell making a debut on the list, joining fellow perfectionists Marquette and High Point.
The biggest mover in the ranking is Wake Forest, which jumped from unranked to No. 21 on the strength of a six-match unbeaten streak with six shutouts. The Demon Deacons are one of five teams to make the jump into the Top 25 after several teams at the bottom of last week's rankings took tumbles.

Akron are technical, and posses the ball on a cut above, but after watching them a few times it seems like they lack the poacher/out and out ‘goal scorer’of years past. Caldwell and crew are stellar in midfield, but when teams pack in on them it seems like they struggle to get the goal their play and possesion/chances justifies, and you need at the college level, given the scramble that late season/extra time/post season games can be.
Am I wrong? The kid on the right flank for them is impressive too . . . the right back from Seattle – Odea maybe?
Wake is legit. Saw them get all over Furman at the beginning of the season and the difference in athleticism and size was notable…Furman’s got some real players but Wake looks like an MLS team.

Wake should be and will be much higher as the season progresses. There’s real (young) talent on that team. As they get more experienced, they will get real good, real fast. I’d say they’re a legit top 10 team.
