SBI MLS Player of the Week: Brad Evans

In Major League Soccer, where the small salary cap makes  versatile players like gold, Brad Evans is a dream of a player. Capable of playing anywhere you need him, and capable of playing well anywhere you put him.

This past week was another example of the qualities Evans brings to the table. He stepped in at right back for the Seattle Sounders and helped them register a shutout in a mid-week scoreless draw vs. Real Salt Lake, then he moved to the left wing and contributed a pair of goals in Sunday’s 3-1 victory against FC Dallas. Evans’ contributions made him the clear-cut pick for SBI MLS Player of the Week.

Evans beat out a field of candidates that included Jimmy Nielsen, Brad Davis and Jack Jewsbury, among others.

What did you think of Evans’ performance last week? Who was your pick for MLS Player of the Week?

  1. Sometimes it is the small things you bring to the table that gets you PT.

Best PK taker the Sounders have.
Can play right back well and then move to CB when the game forced it, plays a fine midfield too.

Not sure I would have selected him, but pretty cool he got it, he played well enough to be in the discussion.

  2. Not a bad week for Evans. To be fair, though, would have not given him man of the match for either game. I thought Gspurning was the most important in the 10 man draw vs RSL, and Montero drew the PK and assisted on the two other goals vs FCD.

  3. I’d like to see him get a turn at LB, just not now. I think he’d be remarkably effective, and could replace either Burch or Gonzo (Burch, please).
