The New York Red Bulls are starting to gain momentum.

For a second straight week, the Red Bulls had the look of a team that is vastly improved both offensive and defensively, beating rivals Philadelphia Union, 3-0, at PPL Park on Saturday. The win helped give the Red Bulls the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference and it also saw them claim SBI’s MLS Team of the Week award during the final week of the regular season.

Honorable mention for the final week of the regular season goes to Sporting Kansas City and the Los Angeles Galaxy. The Galaxy defeat the Seattle Sounders, 1-0, at the Home Depot Center on Sunday and Sporting KC beat the Union, 2-1, last Wednesday.

What do you think of the Red Bulls winning Team of the Week? Agree? Are they a serious contender to come out of the east with the way they are playing now?

  1. Rafa actually made one or two defensive stops and didn’t hilariously turn the ball over every pass. There may just be a glimmer of hope yet!

  2. Red Bulls finally look like they’ve learned how to be aggressive and focused, looks like Cahill has rubbed off on them quite a bit. McCarty playing like an all-star, really impressive. They can go up against anybody right now, but a month ago would’ve never thought this.

  3. Still have serious concerns about the back line. If it wasn’t for some woeful finishing by the Union, it would have been a far less comfortable win. Against the best teams they probably will not be so lucky.

Still feeling better than Cosmos fans because my team actually exists. Come on you boys in white!
