FC Dallas went into Sunday night knowing their playoff hopes were on the line. Goalkeeper Kevin Hartman played like it, doing his best to keep Dallas into Sunday’s match.

Seattle’s offense had other ideas, and eventually proved too move for Hartman and the Dallas defense to handle.

Brad Evans scored two goals, while Fredy Montero provided two assists as the Sounders pulled away in the second half on their way to a 3-1 victory at CenturyLink Field on Sunday night.

Hartman did his best to keep the score tied in the second half, but Evans followed up a first half penalty with his second goal of the night off a pass from Montero, who also helped make it 3-1 when he set up Mauro Rosales for an insurance goal.

Dallas was able to manage just one goal on the night, as attempts to knock it past Seattle keeper Michael Gspurning were few and far between. Blas Perez knocked in his ninth goal of the season, but was held quiet throughout the remainder of the match. With the loss, Dallas’ record on the year in which Perez has netted a goal is now 1-3-4.

With the win, Seattle now remains tied with Real Salt Lake for the number two seed in the Western Conference. They will now travel to the Home Depot Center on Sunday to take on the LA Galaxy in the season finale for both to determine who will end up as the second seed in the West. FC Dallas will close out their season at home, as they will play host to Chivas USA on the same day.

  1. No, just worn out. I was shocked when Montero was, rightly, awarded a PK last night. Of course, I was even more shocked (pleasantly) when it was converted by Evans. It’s a new day…

  2. Dallas’ shape just wsn’t good enough most of the night and Seattle just passed through them and around them all night.

The crowd in Seattle is now ready to boo anything any ref does. Shellshocked or dillusioanl, doesn’t matter. You most likely had to be in the stands to appreciate how disguntled, dissatisfied, dis-everything they are.

The Whitecaps being the exception, with KC and San Jose being favorites, these playoff teams are as closely matched as the game between LA – San Jose and NY-KC showed.
