  1. If there was ever a game to use as a basis for hitting a club with a fine for failing to control their players it would be this game and benfica. The last quarter of this game has been utterly ridiculous from benfica. I refuse to believe an entire team just throws up it’s hands and decides there are no rules.

  2. Benfica should be absolutely embarrassed by this last 20 minutes. 4 yellow cards, 12 fouls, should have been given 2 or 3 red cards at this point.

Matic just dead sprints from 20 yards and puts the point of his elbow through the side of Alves’ head. Martin’s comes sliding through the side of Iniesta’s ankles after he’s beaten. Messi kicked off the ball.

    This is just complete thuggery.

  3. Lionel Messi giving Matic a talking to for just some ridiculous cheap shots immediately after coming on.

It’s so funny seeing little Messi wag his finger at someone a foot taller.

  4. definitely not. I’m not even squeamish generally, but this made me want to vomit.

And to Puyol of all people. I really feel for him – what a great player/career.

  5. Omg omg omg

That’s awful. Poor guy. Carles Puyol appears to have snapped his arm in half, it’s flopping around. Just awful.

  6. Wow hugely dirty play.

Maxi Perreira intentionally throws an elbow into Alexis’ Sanchez throat as Sanchez makes a run by him… referee watches and only gives him a talking to. Will be shocked if that doesn’t end up in a ban for CL play.

  7. And as I type that, Lionel Messi dribbles through at least 4 defenders in a 50 yard run and puts Fabregas in for number 2.

  8. Starting expect it now, but the strategy of neutralizing Messi by ripping his shirt or breaking his ankle at every touch is infuriating.

This guy’s too good so just hurt him every time he touches the ball and maybe he’ll stop. It’s bush league play.
