UEFA Champions League: A Look Ahead

The UEFA Champions League’s ‘Group of Death’ will take a major step toward being decided today as Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Ajax and Manchester City take the field in crucial matches.

Borussia Dortmund leads Group D, and can clinch a place in the knockout rounds with a victory against Real Madrid. That won’t be easy at the Bernabeu against a Real Madrid side that can also reach the brink of qualifying with a win.

Manchester City is in desperation mode, and anything but a win at home against Ajax will eliminate City from the Champions League. Ajax dominated City in the last Match Day, and City has been struggling lately so things aren’t looking good for the English champions.

Schalke can also book their place in the final 16 with a win against Arsenal. The German club posted an impressive victory in London in the last Match Day, and will be favored in the rematch in Germany.

Malaga has been one of the surprises of the group stage and can secure their own place in the knockout round with a victory against AC Milan. The Italian giants are starting to show signs of a turnaround though, and beating them at the San Siro won’t be easy for the Spanish upstarts.
