AZ Alkmaar snapped their seven-game winless run on Saturday, and unsurprisingly Jozy Altidore played a big role in making that happen.
Altidore ended his scoring drought and lifted AZ to victory by finding the back of the net twice in a 2-1 win over PEC Zwolle. Altidore scored his first goal in the second minute of the match and added the eventual winner with a tap-in finish in the 33rd, giving AZ their first win since Nov. 1.
The U.S. Men’s National Team forward’s brace gives him 11 goals in Eredivisie and 14 across all competitions this season. It also marked his fifth multi-goal match across all competitions and ended a dry spell for Altidore that dated back to Nov. 10.
Here are Altidore’s goals:

What do you think of Altidore scoring a brace to lift AZ to victory? Expect to see him go on a tear in the coming weeks?

Haha, that first goal, just brilliant!
Jozy also drew a red card to seal the victory.
So impressed with Jozy’s tenacity in getting back up after the ball after going to the ground on the first goal. Most forwards, and maybe Jozy himself at another point in his career, would have immediately raised their hand calling for a foul, or worse, would have shamelessly been rolling on the ground for 3 minutes hoping for the penalty.
This! Play the game, let the Refs and Coaches deal with calling fouls and such!
Jozy has scored 25 goals this year. Insanely impressive. Several games left he could hit 30
I see the user name AZ isn’t on here. Looks like Jozy shut him up this week.
+1
Jozy hopefully will move to a new club next summer or right after the WC. He needs to be at a decent club in a top4 league
Jozy playing good, now score 20+ goals and move to bigger league and continue improving.
Love everything about that first goal: heads up hustle play, lots of pace to get to the back pass, good control of the ball while holding off the defender, but best of all, sticking with the play instead of whining for a penalty call when the keeper took him down. Great perseverance and left-footed finish. Well done, Josmer…
“sticking with the play instead of whining for a penalty call when the keeper took him down”
+1. that’s what i noticed too.
Looked offside on the first goal…
#1 goal

Embarrassing defense. That is truly pathetic.
And Josy punished them.
He was flying on that first goal. Not the best of touches, but he still got it.
I think he has 25 goals now in the calendar year. Got to. D a record for a us player in Europe
?
Where is the first goal video?
Check SoccerOverThere
Jogging.
Couldn’t he run faster to put that in the back of the net?
Lazy.
Hat trick in his next game
Fiorentina, Rubin Kazan, Sporting Lisbon are tracking him
Liverpool could use him for sure.
blech. Fiorentina would be a nice move, but others… blech.
The first US world class striker 😉
not quite there yet buddy
Mcbride, Dempsey? Donovan? What classifies as world class? Let us know and im sure jozy or somebody will get there
Yeah none of those guys are world class and neither is Jozy. Try Ibra, Falcao, Neymar, etc.
Technically, world class means the top player at your position, so there are only 11 world class players at any particular moment, so most of those guys won’t make the list, either. The tem has become diluted, however, and most people don’t adhere to this strict definition.
“World Class” has no technical meaning, because it is not a technical term. A vague category that encourages pub debates is what it really is.
Ha!
Let’s remember, Michael Bradley scored 16 league 18 total goals in Netherlands. Granted MB is a darn good player now playing with a World’s top team.
Keep the goals flowing Jozmer! 4 back from the goal scoring leader. 11 goals in the first half of the Eredivisie season and 13 over all; not bad for a striker who continues to get hate spewed towards him by an uneducated few.
typical lazy Jozy can’t get the hat trick.
Great job Jozy! Keep up the great work
Good! Bony still dominating the scoring, but maybe Altidore could close the gap! It would be awesome to see an American as the leading scorer in a pretty big league like this
good stuff jozidore! any links to the first goal? 3 pts takes them well clear of the relegation candidates and in striking distance from the Europa League spots..

FIRST GOAL
Thanks Tex. love to see the hustle and strength he displayed on this goal.
Thanks tex, that goal was excellent and the second was alright too
Without a doubt those arnt premier league defenders but good to see jozy playing his game the way he can.
Congrats, Jozy. Keep it going…
Got to say im really impressed with his scoring considering his team is considerably worst than last year. Lost some good attacking players in the summer.
Indeeed. Think back a year ago. They were in contention for the title despite Jozy going multiple games without scoring or assisting.
or playing (for a stretch there)
Do it with the USMNT, DO it with the USMNT, PLEASE PLEASE DO IT WITH THE USMNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
